Vacations are over

Well after my trip to Las Vegas, in August once again I was in the air. I was heading out to Pueblo, Colorado for a "surprise birthday party" for my oldest sister Diane. Her children threw her a "surprise birthday" party on August 18th, (her actual birthday is September 27th), so needless to say she was surprised. But I had another surprise on my way out to Colorado, my Southwest flight was from Phildadelphia to Chicago (Midway) then onto Denver. Well during the stop-over in Chicago, I moved up to the first row of seats on the right hand side of the plane near the window. A woman got on and took the aisle seat, then a young man got on and said "Beth, may I sit in the middle seat". I looked up and being the "senior" that I am, said I'm sorry - do I know you? And, the young man said, I'm your nephew Robby. The last time I had actually seen Robby, other than photos, was when he was about 14 years old, he is now 21. Well, needless to say, we had a very nice visit between Chicago and Denver. He was on his way back to classes at University of Utah, in Salt Lake City. I picked up my rental car - a 2007 yellow PT cruiser - and drove to my niece's place in Pueblo for Friday night and Saturday morning. The party was held Saturday night - I think my niece Jaycee was even more surprised to see me than my sister.

Las Vegas July 2007

Visit with Joan Marcotte at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada - Friday - July 27, 2007.

The four sisters - Arta (Greenwood) Szathmary, Diane (Greenwood) Winkley, Cathy (Greenwood) Cerveny and Beth Greenwood enjoyed the sites and sounds in Las Vegas, Nevada.

We had a very busy schedule - Cathy and her husband Randy were already visiting in Las Vegas, and Arta, Diane and Beth met with them on Wednesday - July 25th. Our first day together, we went to the Wynn Casino, and with our comp cards were able to enjoy the buffet by only paying for three meals out of five. That evening we headed over to Freemont Street Experience. Thursday we purchased 1/2 price tickets for Menopause the Musical which was thoroughly enjoyed by the four of us. Randy took in the Star Trek experience. Again we hit the buffet at the Wynn (fantastic food). Friday, Arta, Diane and myself met up with Joan Marcotte for dinner at Carmine's Little Italy. Afterwards we stopped by her house for a few minutes. Then we drove up the road to Henderson, Nevada for our next stopover place of Fiesta Henderson. Saturday morning Cathy and Randy headed off to Los Angeles, Ca to spend a couple of days with their daughter and son-in-law. The three of us, drove over to Hoover Dam. We took the walking tour and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the power of the water. Sunday after dropping our sister Diane off at the airport for her ride home, Arta and I were able to pick up tickets for "Mystere" - Cirque Du Soleil show at Treasure Island. I can tell you that even though I saw the amazing things that they performed, I can't believe any actual regular human can do some of the tricks. Monday dawned and we decided we wanted to do another show, so while driving (excuse the term - actually it's more like parking on Las Vegas Boulevard) I jumped out of the car and went to one of the 1/2 price ticket spots and purchased tickets to see The Fab Four at Planet Hollywood. Another fantastic show. Then on Tuesday morning our fabulous week came to a close and we caught our Southwest flight home.

Just got back from Las Vegas, NV

Well I just returned home from Las Vegas, and I had a great time. My sister Arta and I flew out together, we met up with oldest sister Diane, and also our youngest sister Cathy and her husband Randy for a few days of fun together. Our first night together - Wednesday July 25th, after dinner at the Wynn Casino we went to Freemont Street. For all the sights and sounds there. It is a do not miss item. Then Thursday evening we (the girls only) went to see Menopause the Musical. (note the buffet at the Wynn was so good, (and we had some comp on our players card) we had dinner their again. Friday evening, my sister Arta, Diane and myself met up with Joan Marcotte for dinner and then stopped by her home afterwards. After leaving there, we headed out to Fiesta Henderson Casino, our sleeping quarters for the remainder of our stay in Vegas. Saturday morning we headed up to Hoover Dam and took the walking tour. Well we did use a wheel chair for Diane, which gave Arta and Beth the capability of always being first in line for the sights at the dam. Saturday we stayed at the Fiesta Henderson to donate our money. Then on Sunday, we took Diane to the airport so she could head back home to Colorado. Arta and I went to one of TIX4TONIGHT stands and got half-price tickets for Mystere- Cirque Du Soleil at Treasure Island. After the show we had the dinner buffet at Treasure Island. Monday we again hit one of the TIX4TONIGHT stands and purchased tickets to The Fab Four at Planet Hollywood. Before the show we hit the buffet at Planet Hollywood. Then Tuesday we had to catch our flight back to Pennsylvania. The week and the money all went too fast. But I wouldn't have missed for the world.

Beth is retiring

Well the day is finally coming where I will no longer be getting up daily at 5:30 AM, having breakfast, getting a shower, and putting on those "work clothes". My car will no longer be taking it's daily trip up Tyburn Road, onto US 1S, then 95N to my office. Will I miss those daily trips, I don't think so.

So my official last day at work is Friday May 25th, 2007.

Have a few things planned over the summer, a wedding to attend in Virgina - June 2nd. Then during June having new windows installed in my place. Come July there is always the family reunion the third Sunday in July in western Pennsylvania. Then July 25th - 31st, my three sisters and myself will be enjoying the sites in Las Vegas. Looking toward August, will be heading out to Colorado to visit with family out there. In between times, hope to get back to Chicago, and have a niece in Michigan that is due to have her second baby in August. I hope to travel there also.
Plan to have lots of family pictures to share with you all.

A small gathering

A very small group of classmates got together at Charlie Brown's on Thursday April 19, 2007. In the picture left to right are: Bob Fitzgerald (husband of Carol), Joanne Roberts (wife of Bill - note Bill was unable to attend, poor guy he was working), Beth Greenwood, Carol Fitzgerald, Ginnie Napolitano, Vic Napolitano, Dotty (Rathmell) Wilson, and her husband Ed Wilson. Dotty had some copies of the Pennsburian that she shared with Carol and myself. (Some more information to put in newsletters, because we don't seem to hear from any of you folks with some articles that can be put into The Mature Falcon). If you want to see The Mature Falcon still coming, please contribute some news of your family, your work, your retirement, etc.

Thank you, hoping to hear from each one of you.

January 2007

  1. Well - January 2007 is quickly coming to a close, and we are desperately in need of some news articles from "you" our classmates.
  2. We know some of you folks might be "snow bunnies" and be living it up in those warmer climates.
  3. Well drop us a note - either Carol F. or Beth G. and tell us about it, we would love to share this information with everyone.
  4. Of course, some of us, are resident cold weather folks, and maybe you can share with us all how you make it through the winter months.
  5. There must be some new "grand children", that you can boast about.
  6. Send in your pictures and will share them also.
  7. Also, if you have suggestions on how we should celebrate the 50th year reunion, that's right folks in June 2009 we all left Pennsbury High Schol 50 years ago, please send in your ideas.
